The defender turned 18 in February and has been a consistent performer with the U23s this season, playing 12 times. He has also represented the U18s on four occasions, scoring once in a 5-1 defeat at West Brom.
At 6ft 1in Samuels is tall for a left-back but he does like to get forward and can play more centrally or on the right, and also further up the left flank.
He is an England youth international, having represented both the U16 and U17 sides, and signed his first professional deal with Reading in February 2020.
With Omar Richards departing in the summer, Samuels has a huge opportunity this summer to stake his claim for the left-back position with Royals over the next few years.
